So, I'm sitting here thinking (happily) about LOAD being almost done. And then I started thinking about all of my scrapbook stuff. And about how much I have. It's way to much really. And I am thinking about how I really need to use up what I have (not that it's possible!) and stop buying more stuff. I thought I'd be able to do that during LOAD, but guess what? I bought more stuff. AND I subscribed to Studio Calico, so now, I have more stuff coming every month. So, I decided that I am going to give myself a new challenge starting today.
I am going to make my next 60 layouts using ONLY stuff I already have on hand (or that's coming from SC). It's going to be hard for me because I am always seeing new stuff I have to have, but truthfully I don't have to have it. I have to use what I already had to have first!! (Adhesive doesn't count, obviously)
I won't be doing this for 60 days straight, that's for sure! I don't think my marriage could handle the mess that is called my bedroom!! (Speaking of my room I'll have to show you how it looks now (after I clean it first)!! I've made a trip to Ikea since I last posted pics! It's working perfectly!) But, I will be creating as many layouts a week as I can handle and I'll be sharing them here with you.
I will also be playing with new techniques and using as much product as I can since I have just about everything you could think of and it's just sitting there!!
Anyone want to join me?? (Even if you are taking my BPS class you can still do this for your layouts!)
eta: I don't expect, if you join me, that you have to do 60 layouts too. You can set your own goal (even just 5)...whatever works for you. 60 works for me since I really have way to much stuff and I need to cut back on my spending, but I fully understand that it's a lot of layouts and most likely wouldn't work for everyone!)
sounds good Lisa! I am in! But it doesnt include the stuff I have already ordered right ;)!

I think I'll take you up on this challenge too! May need to subscribe to SC also--I have been thinking about it for a while... :)

Absolutely sign me up! I'm going to challenge myself to get all 60 layouts done between school ending on June 25 and starting on September 8. Thanks for the idea Lisa, I'm in :)

I'm in! This will be easy since I don't have a scrapbook store anymore. ;-)

Doing LOAD in February really taught me alot about what I use, and don't use. Before that when I sparadically doing layouts I would just buy stuff thinking, when I scrapbook I would love to use this. But then I would scrapbook and never reach for those things.
I think everyone should do LOAD at least once, to learn so much about their scrappy style. Plus it really fills an album. It's fun and challenge. Something else I learnt in Feb, was that I didn't need to sit on my butt and watch tv, I could do something creative and fun. My daughters would remnd me each night to make my page and then look for it in the morning.

I'm in too...I have WAY too much stuff and I need to make room for all the new stuff that will be out from CHA in the summer!!

Doing LOAD right now too ... sometimes it's hard to find the time to get a layout done a day, but I've done it so far. Your challenge sounds great - so I'm in. I really need to use up what I have already.

Oh, my goodness! What a great challenge! I will try my best, but man will that be hard! :0)

That is a good challenge! Have fun and good luck!

I've been having fun with LOAD. It's starting to get really difficult (last night at 8 pm I just wanted to go lay in bed & watch tv but I remembered I hadn't done my layout & haven't missed a day so off I went). I just restocked last week but I know I couldn't be 100% faithful to this challenge.... I'll be an unofficial participant.
Good luck!

Very ambitious!! Great challenge, one I could definitely accommodate!

cool soon I will have the time for this!

What an awesome idea! But I'm just coming off a very long spending freeze, so I think I'll pick 5 layouts to create without buying!
Posted by: betsy | May 22, 2009 at 04:48 PM
Good luck! :) I don't know how long I'd last. :)

COUNT ME IN! I've been so proud of myself . . . I haven't been to Hobby Lobby or my LSS since the first of April, and then I only bought a few must have pieces of cardstock. I need to slim down my stash. Just call it Weight Watchers for the scrapbooker. ;)

Great idea Lisa... I'll play along after I get back from vacation, I've already scouted out the stores that are on our way, so shopping there won't count ;) Count me in for 10 layouts to start with.

MARVELOUS Idea! I'm totally in. :)

I'm in too, I really need to keep going after LOAD. I think I'll make more goal 30 days in 60 days.
Posted by: Sue | May 22, 2009 at 08:28 PM
I'm in but may just do the Rule of 10 over and over - less intimidating to me After GOBI, Scrappin on a Shoestring, Writing Deeping and now LOAD I have some creative juices flowing and don't want them to stop.
Oh and in case anyone is wondering the Rule of 10 (as I call it) was first put forward by an awesome woman as her challenge to herself and others on a list. Make 10 LOs from your stash before you buy anything.

I'm in! But have to tell you that I might have to buy cardstock! I have SO much stuff that I my goal is going to be to do this for the whole summer. My realistic goal? LOL 40 layouts!
Posted by: Shannon McPheeters | May 23, 2009 at 10:30 AM
I'm in! This is my 3rd time through LOAD and I LOVE it! So I am ready to keep going. I need to clean up my studio 'cause it has gotten completely out of hand this month but then I'm gonna be right back in there cuttin' & pastin' & croppin'! I have really enjoyed pulling out old pictures and scrapping them with only the stuff in the bag I brought with me. It has required me to be more flexible with my page designs and use up what I have with the random photos I brought with me. Solves the whole "I know I have that certain piece of patterned paper in this stack somewhere" syndrome.
I'm thinking my goal will be to use up what I have over the Summer to make 60 layouts (20/June,July,August). No purchases outside of the 3 kit clubs I am still a member of. I can do it!

Hey Lisa! I'm in but I may not set a goal of 60 LO! I am thinking maybe 30 and will do it in conjunction with your BPS class.
This is great timing because I had already decided not to spend anymore $ on scrapbook supplies since my maternity leave pay has just run out and we need to cut some "discretionary spending" in order for me to be a SAHM! No biggie. I decided to put the spending freeze on after reading about FUTURE GIRL'S spending limit of $24 on craft supplies for all of 2009!!!! (read about it here: http://www.futuregirl.com/craft_blog/2009/1/use-what-i-have.aspx )
I also decided it was more important to me to spend my meager craft budget on things like BPS classes (yours upcoming and Ali's in the fall) in order to stay connected with such a great bunch of scrappers than to have all the latest products!
Now having said all that, I am so excited that I won your giveaway from last week and I can't wait to see what goodies are in the box you send me...THAT will be my new stash! Thanks again!
Looking forward to it as I have really enjoyed LOAD!

Sounds like a great challenge, I am glad I found you today. PLenty of stuff but have a "thing" for patterned paper that I then forget I have!
No budget really for more stuff either, cont me it
Posted by: christa | May 24, 2009 at 06:41 AM
I am in Lisa! :) I may even do 60 with you! :) I hear you on having too much stuff and having to take a brief hiatus from buying! :) LOL!

What a great idea! I am definitely in on this challenge. Of course after my shopping spree at a recent scrapbook expo in Orlando I don't know if my husband would be too happy if I bought anything new for the next few weeks so this challenge couldn't come at a better time ;)
Posted by: Danielle | May 25, 2009 at 04:33 PM
I love this idea ... in fact I'm going to apply it to other areas of my life as well - read the books on my shelf before I buy more, etc!
I'm very interested in your BPS class too!

I certainly need to reduce my own stock! May LOAD just did not make a noticeable dent. Sign me up!

I'm in! :-)

Hmmm I think I need this! Let's see if I can last for the duration of June. Monthly subs to clubs don't count do they? After all I've got Busy Women Scrapbook coming soon and my own paper arts club!
