If you are new to my blog let me introduce myself!

Hello, my name is Lisa Day and I am a paper crafts addict! I love putting glue to paper, pairing pictures and memories, getting messy and ending up with something cool in the end. I reside in West Michigan with my husband (Tom) and our two precious children (Noah and Katelyn).  I love connecting with the paper crafts community, so please leave a comment and introduce yourself. Here are my 'Summer Favorites' layouts I created for the hop!

If you read the journaling you'll notice that these pictures are actually from Spring 2006, but that is only because I don't have summer pictures of us 4-wheeling YET! Both of my babies birthdays are next week and I'm getting them a little 4 wheeler for their combined gift. I did this page to reflect upon how much fun we all had riding together and to listen to my son talk about how much fun he had too. It was kind of my way of leading up to the surprise of their present!! I used this exclusive sketch that Becky Fleck designed just for this blog hop!!

This page is just a real quick one I did to capture why I love summer! I love this picture. It totally sums up summer for me...sitting outside, watching the kids run around, listening to their laughter and totally relaxing with no place to be.  (Note: the lines going across the title...that happened because I sprayed my page with glimmer mist after I had it finished and it started to curl, so I put some stuff on top to flatten it back out. I didn't pay much attention to where I was putting the heavy things and ended up with a weird line...but I figured since it was a summer layout about chillin', that I would let it go!!!)

I was asked by Elmers if I would be willing to do a giveaway of some of their products on my blog. Well, duh! Of course I'd love to give something away! Let me just tell you though that I wasn't sure what to expect. I was totally blown away when I saw a big box full of goodies sitting on my front porch. I quickly opened it up and was so excited about all the possibilities that awaited me in this box. I mean...who wouldn't love getting all these goodies.

My favorite thing in the box was this Adhesive Dot Stamper. It's seriously so cool and fun to use. I can think of some fun techniques that could be done with this little thing too!!

I envy the "sock stealing" monster...

I’ve heard mention of this so called “sock stealing” monster many times among friends and family. This monster apparently takes only one sock and leaves the other just to taunt you and leave you with a pile of unmatched socks. And as soon as you give up and throw away that lonely unmatched sock, the monster will always bring back that stolen sock. Well, can I just tell you that I envy those of you with just a sock stealing monster. I apparently have a much bigger monster living in my house.

I’ve spent the last 2 hours rummaging through every nook and cranny in my house looking for a missing Nintendo DS case and six games. We did find the actual DS, but no case and no games. I swear it’s got to be this monster I hear talk of.

Here are more reasons why I believe I have a bigger monster hiding out in my house. In the last few years we have lost:

• A 6 foot table
• 2 cooking pans
• One of my favorite shoes
• Remotes
• Our minds
• Pacifiers
• Keys

If you happen to know any tricks to catch these tricky monsters please send them my way. I have a very sad son who is missing his games, so we don’t find this monster very funny and he must be caught! Reward will be offered!

More of the same...

I feel like everytime I've come here to post something this summer I always want to say the same thing..."I have nothing to say...I'm so tired...blah blah blah". Tom's been out of town most of the summer so I've just been go, go, go and when I finally get a chance to blog, my mind goes blank.I figured instead of just ignoring the ole' blog I'd share some pretties I made the last couple days!

And, I promise I'll have something fun to talk about soon. Need to get some sleep first...

Confused...

I'm not sure whether it's Summer of Fall here in Michigan! One day it's humid and 85 and then the next it's chilly and 63. Don't get me wrong! I'm not complaining. I love being able to have the windows open. I love the little breaks from the heat. I love the feeling of the fresh crisp in the air. I love that I don't have to run my air conditioning. It's definitely been a nice summer in my book! It's really making me crave Fall though. I'm already thinking about all kinds of fall activities and crafts and stuff. It's only July 19th...that's crazy!

I did manage to complete another layout this weekend and a card and an altered project (hmmm...sounds like I may have been putting together another DT entry...ya think!! American Crafts is my favorite so there was no way I could resist!). Oh, and the layout I posted below was in the top 10 for views and for votes at Two Peas, both of which are a first for me. A major milestone for me! Woohoo!

This layout is about my totally handsome nephew. I love this kid just like he's one of my own. He's 14 and still comes over and spends the weekend at our house all the time. He's at the top of his class academically and is an all-star athlete. When I showed him this layout his response was "you should have put my number on the bottom so then all the girls could call me!". Did I mentioned he was also voted the class flirt! Love this kid!

 

This is the card I made! Not that I ever have anything to apologize for...right honey??!!

 

This is my altered project. I had this star hanging in my studio in the basement. Since I've moved up to my bedroom to scrap it's been sitting down there doing nothing. It was red and didn't match anything in my room so I figured I could alter it and give it a new home. I love how it turned out!

Whew! I meant to post this yesterday, but the day seriously just got away from me. The morning started out cool with a nice thunderstorm, which was so relaxing and perfect to sleep in too. Then I spent a fabulous afternoon with my mom getting a hot stone message, which was heavenly and oh so needed. And later I went with Tom and Noah to watch Harry Potter 6, which was probably the best Harry Potter yet (even though I was disappointed on the history stuff they left out!). It was a very relaxing and enjoyable birthday!

In other news, this is the layout I did for my first post over at Clip It Up! If you want to see the tutorial on how I put it together hop on over to this post!

Also, I can't believe today begins our last week together in my class at BPS. I'm always amazed at how quickly they go by. I've really enjoyed this class and the students. I am so proud of all of them and the amazing work they have done! Very cool stuff!

A Sneak...

Can I just tell you all that getting a stinkin' cold in the middle of summer is no fun! No fun at all!! I had all last weekend off to do whatever I wanted and I ended up getting terribly sick and spent the whole weekend doing nothing. All I really wanted to do was scrapbook and play with the last 2 months of SC kits I haven't even gotten to touch! Boo...

But tomorrow is my birthday so I can't complain too much!! I have big plans to go to the spa with my mother during the day and get hot stone messages and pedicures! Sounds like heaven to me right now! Then Tom and I are thinking about taking the kids to go see Harry Potter 6 and out to dinner.

I did manage to get one layout done for my blog entry at Simply Renee tomorrow! Here's a sneak...

 

It's a beautiful day...

Technically, if I were to look outside I'd see it's really gloomy and about ready to start raining, but it's still a beautiful day!!

Check out that beauty!! I actually thought I hadn't made the team and I was a little bit sad! I had been watching the message boards all day yesterday for some sign that the calls were being made. Sometime around 2:30p, my time, Leah had put a message up about hating it when she calls people and they don't answer! I quickly checked my phone...no missed calls. Checked my email...none from her. Hours went by with no phone call or email so around 7ish I decided it was time to admit I hadn't make the team (again!). But, within a few minutes I got a message from Leah that she'd been trying to reach me all day and my phone was busy everytime. Arrrgh, darn ATT causing me all that sadness!! It's needless to say I was totally excited after getting that message from Leah and I couldn't respond fast enough! 

I am really looking forward to hanging out at the nook and getting to create with their fabulous kits. I put up links to the rest of the DT members on the right column so go check out their blogs! She put together a fabulous team!

The Creativity Project...an update

Do you remember The Creativity Project? I do! It’s on my mind everyday! I know around Memorial Day I said I was taking a little bit of time off from doing the posts due to the holiday and the busy summer schedule. Well, it’s been longer than a little bit so I feel I should give you all an update!

I haven’t forgotten about it. Actually I love the whole idea so much that I’m turning it into my next class at BPS. Right now I’m in the planning, researching, preparing part of the class. Which means I haven’t quite figured out how I will be doing the class, so I’m not sure what I should share on the blog and what I should save for the class! I will be back to sharing more of it on my blog as soon as I get it figured out ;)

Have I still been doing something creative everyday? For the most part yes, but sometimes I get so busy I forget to step back and take the time to incorporate that into my day. Those days I notice a difference in my mood. Those are the days when it’s all go go go and I need to learn to slow down and enjoy each day to the fullest.

 

I’m really excited for this class! I have so many ideas floating around inside my head so I created this fun journal to keep myself organized and inspired at the same time. I do know that one part of this class will be trying all kinds of new things, so I wanted my notebook to be my first attempt at that! Using flea market finds is very new to me…this was my first time actually! On this journal the story is from a vintage children’s book I got at the flea market last weekend and the milk cap I got on Memorial day. I also used some glimmer mist and some super seal which are also new to me. The other products are Jenni Bowlin, Making Memories and Basic Grey.
