Some ideas to bring a little more creativity into your daily life. I will be adding 7 things to this list every Monday! Enjoy!
- Wear mismatched socks. I love mine from Little Miss Matched. I wear them pretty much everyday and they add so much fun to my day.
- Plant some flowers or a plant and give them silly names. As you water them and take care of them talk to them by name.
- Have a tea party with your best dishes and little cookies. If you have doilies use those too! You can do this with yourself, your kids or invite friends over.
- Dress in a different color each day of the week. Monday wear Red, Tuesday Orange, etc. You could even take pictures of your outfits and do a rainbow inspired layout!
- Take 3 pictures of your morning routine and then do a layout about your routine. (or you could do this at anytime of the day where you have a routine).
- Write your to-do list in crayon. If you have a meeting to attend take notes using crayons.
- Do math problems without a calculator. I've read that the more you use your left brain the more creative energy you will release.
- Get a bottles of bubbles and go outside and blow as many as you can. Try to get some really big ones. If you do it on a real windy day hold it up and let the wind have a turn!
- Find someone to play catch with and go outside and toss a ball around!
- Pretend your power is out and do everything by candle light for an entire night!
- Make breakfast for dinner. The waffles with cool whip, strawberries and sprinkles was a huge hit in our home.
- Go to the playground and swing on the swings, slides down the slides, play on the monkey bars. Don't worry about looking silly. (Most people with admire your ability to let loose and have fun!)
- Handcut some paper flowers and stems and display them on the fridge as your indoor garden! (this is the only way I can keep flowers alive!)
- Order out or make some chinese food and eat the entire meal with chop sticks!
- Start a family fun night - let the kids plan and help prepare dinner, watch a movie and pop some popcorn, play a family game, go for a walk...or do all of these things in one night.
- Get out some sidewalk chalk and go color on as many different surfaces as you can outside. Experiment with what surfaces work and don't work. Make beautiful art and photograph it...or not!
- Go for a walk and try to find something along your path that represents every color of the rainbow. Bring it home and display it somewhere for a while.
- Go to the library and pick a book that you would normally never pick before. Experience a new author or a new genre or a new form of writing. If you normally like romance novels, try out a western. If you normally like vampire books (me!) try out some Jane Eyre, etc.
- Get out a coloring book and color a page. Do your best and then proudly hang it on the fridge!
- Purchase some M&M's and sort them out by color into separate bowls. Eat a different color each day of the week.
- Setup the camera and take a self portrait. Print out that picture and create a page about what you see when you look at the picture. I did this a little bit ago and loved how it felt to document how I saw myself.
- Write a haiku (5, 7, 5 syllables)
Lisa is writing,
this list of ideas for you,
may they bring you joy.
Lame I know, but it was fun writing it! - Take a nap. Sometimes resting is really needed to restore your creative spirit!
- Hang some twinkle lights outside!
- Do some window shopping online. Some sites that I've been browsing for creative inspiration are Land of Nod, PB Teen, Boden (especially mini-boden). Sign up for their catalogs for some fun inspiration in the mail!
- Create a layout every single day. I've been participating in Lain's LOAD challenge this month and while it's exhausing, it's a lot of fun and I feel way more creative!
- Play a team sport. Playing an actual game is so good for my spirit. I have fun and interact with new people.
- Go out to dinner to someplace you've never bin and order something you've never had before. (Or you could make something at home that is totally new!)
